Launch of the Transformational Leadership Program – Scholarship and Partnerships
The Transformational Leadership Program - Scholarships and Partnerships (TLP-SP) was officially launched on April 30, 2014. The event brought together key higher education figures from the Kosovo Ministry of Education Science and Technology, USAID, the University of Pristina, and World Learning as partners in the joint venture.
The Transformational Leadership Program - Scholarships and Partnerships is the core activity of the Transformational Leadership initiative, and has three objectives supporting Transformational Leadership in Kosovo:Coordinated, collaborative oversight of the Transformational Leadership initiative through an Advisory Committee; Kosovo citizens receive U.S. post-graduate degrees and professional certification; and Improved university management and pedagogy in selected faculties of the University of Prishtina and/or other universities through partnerships and exchanges with US universities.
The Transformational Leadership Program - Scholarships and Partnerships will be implemented in partnership with USAID, the Government of Kosovo and World Learning. This five-year program will enhance higher education reform through collaboration with the University of Prishtina, and other higher education institutions in-country, as well as Arizona State University, Indiana University, the University of Minnesota, and Dartmouth College in the United States.
It is anticipated that by the end of the activity there will be a total of 185 scholarships for master degrees and 160 certificates awarded, specifically:
- 50 Master Scholars and 35 Certificate Scholars in 2014,
- 75 Master Scholars and 40 Certificate Scholars in 2015,
- 60 Master Scholars and 50 Certificate Scholars in 2016, and
- 35 Certificate Scholars in 2017
At this event the 64 semi-finalists of the Transformational Leadership Program – Scholarships and Partnerships for masters'slevel studies were also announced. USAID Mission Director Maureen A. Shauket, congratulated the semi-finalists and encouraged them, if selected as finalists, to volunteer their time to the betterment of Kosovo upon their return from the US.
